The 54th meeting of the Standing Committee on Shipping Ministry of the 11th Parliament was held today at the Sangsad Bhavan under the chairmanship of Major (retd) Rafiqul Islam, Bir Uttam. In the meeting, committee members State Minister for Naval Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Mahfuzur Rahman, Dr. Samil Uddin Ahmed Shimul, Md. Ashlam Hossain Saudagar and SM Shahzada participated in the meeting.At the beginning of the meeting, the proceedings of the meeting began by paying respect to the souls of the greatest Bengali father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, all the martyrs who died in the great liberation war, all those who died on the black night of August 15, all the martyrs including the 4 leaders who were martyred in jail, and all the freedom fighters who participated in the great liberation war. .The committee recommends encouraging students to pursue technical education and imparting necessary training to them after SSC and HSC examinations. The Committee recommends to take measures to amend/amend the Commission Act as soon as possible to strengthen the Bangladesh National River Protection Commission.The meeting also recommended reservation of quota for ships of BIWTC in transportation of imported goods, food grains, fertilizers and fuel through the Ministry of Commerce, Food, Industries, Power and Mineral Resources and recommended to change the design of the bulkhead of the Department of Shipping and increase the number of servers. The current activities, problems and transition plans of the Directorate of Shipping and Bangladesh Shipping Corporation were discussed in the meeting.Secretary of Shipping Ministry, Additional Secretary, Chairman of BIWTC, Ministry of Shipping and concerned officials of Bangladesh National Parliament Secretariat were present in the meeting.
