The 14th meeting of the Standing Committee on Ministry of Textiles and Jute was held.

Dhaka, March 16, 2023 : The 14th meeting of the ‘Standing Committee on Textiles and Jute Ministry’ of the 11th National Parliament was held today at the Sangsad Bhawan under the chairmanship of the committee president Mirza Azam.

Committee members Md. Nazrul Islam Chowdhury and Abdul Momin Mandal participated in the meeting.

In the meeting, the number of projects undertaken under the Ministry of Textiles and Jute in the last four years, when the projects were approved, the current progress of the projects, the latest actual progress and financial progress of the project and the latest progress regarding the projects undertaken in the constituencies of the honorable members of the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Textiles and Jute. A detailed discussion on Besides, the latest progress in implementing the recommendations adopted in the previous meeting was also reviewed.

In the meeting, the committee recommended to the Ministry to take appropriate steps to complete all the works of the project by June 2023 after on-site inspection and supervision by the senior official of the Ministry to establish Sheikh Hasina Textile Engineering College, Melandah, Jamalpur.

In the meeting, the committee recommended the ministry to take steps to take five acres of extended land adjacent to the project for the construction of a fashion design institute in Melandah upazila of Jamalpur district.

Besides, the Committee re-recommends to the Ministry to take quick measures to set up Textile Vocational Institutes in the constituencies of each member of the Standing Committee on Ministry of Textiles and Jute.

At the beginning of the meeting, family members including Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib, 30 lakh martyrs of the Liberation War, 2 lakh mothers and sisters who lost their honor, four national leaders, and all the martyrs were prayed for and paid deep respect to their memory.

The Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, the heads of various departments and organizations along with the relevant officials of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute and Bangladesh National Parliament Secretariat were present in the meeting.
