The 12th meeting of the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of the National Parliament was held today in the National Parliament under the chairmanship of Hasanul Haque Inu.
Committee members and Information and Broadcasting Minister Mohammad Hasan Mahmud, Begum Simin Hossain (Rimi), Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman, Md Murad Hasan and Mrs. Mamata Hena Lovely participated in the meeting.
In the meeting, confirmation of the minutes of the 11th meeting of the Standing Committee related to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the implementation progress of the decisions taken were discussed.
In the meeting, it was recommended to collect the audio video report presented in the budget session in the National Parliament from the concerned department and take necessary measures to disseminate it all over the country.
The Committee recommends the Ministry to take conscious and effective steps for registration of online news portals, online/IP television and online radio.
The committee recommends international companies operating social media to legally register their operations in Bangladesh.
The meeting recommended taking steps to enact the ‘Bangladesh Film Certification Act’ at the earliest to update The Censorship of Films Act, 1963 (Amended 2006).
In the meeting, it was recommended to send the Bangladesh Betar’s organogram (post creation) file to the Ministry of Public Administration as soon as possible.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Director General of Bangladesh Radio, the Chief Information Officer of the Directorate of Information, the Director General of Bangladesh Television, the Director General of Management of Bangladesh News Agency, the heads of various organizations of the Ministry, senior officials and the Bangladesh National Parliament SecretariatOfficials were present.
