Smart employment fair will open new horizons of possibilities-Speaker

Pirganj, Rangpur, 19 March 2023

Bangladesh National Parliament Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, MP said, a revolution has taken place in Bangladesh in information, technology and communication sector. At present, the country’s income from this sector is one and a half billion and it is planned to take it to 5 billion by 2025, the architect of Digital Bangladesh, who is a son of this soil, Sajib Wazed Joy. And organizing such smart employment fairs will open new horizons of possibilities.

He said these things in the speech of the chief guest of the smart employment fair-2023 organized on the occasion of the educated youth who are interested in building a career in ICT at the Pirganj Upazila Parishad auditorium in Rangpur today (Sunday).

State Minister for Information, Technology and Communication Junaid Ahmad Palak, MP spoke as a special guest at the fair.

Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, MP said, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the privileged daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, started the program of Digital Bangladesh in 2009. Development in ICT sector has played a major role in Bangladesh’s journey from a low-income country to a developing country. Sajib Wazed Jai is working relentlessly under the guidance of the Prime Minister and has set a target to make the country developed and smart and the people as IT skilled human resources by 2041.

As a result, 12 crore people are now able to transact through digital channels and he wants to transform Bangladesh into a country of cashless transactions. Laptops were gifted to 10 people for achieving skills in freelancing and 20 smart women were given a check of 50,000 rupees each. In addition, freelance entrepreneurs Noor Tajkia, Mehedi Hasan, Md. Sultana Begum and Md. Arifuzzaman Moon told stories of success in freelancing at the event.

The program begins with recitation of the Holy Quran, reading of the Gita and reading of the Bible.

Chaired by District Commissioner Chitralekha Nazneen and moderated by Kazi Tarana and Harunur Rashid, Upazila Parishad Chairman former Member of Parliament Noor Mohammad Mondal, Upazila Awami League Acting President Professor Nurul Amin Raja, Rangpur Police Superintendent Ferdous Ali Chowdhury, Upazila Awami League General Secretary and Municipal Mayor Tajimul Islam Shamim, Humayun Kabir, Director and Deputy Secretary of Learning and Earning Project, spoke about the prospects and plans of the government. Nepal Bin Hasan, Head of BRAC Kumon Limited, gave a welcome speech.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Biroda Rani Roy, leaders of local Awami League and organizations, various dignitaries and media workers were present in the ceremony.
