One’s land recorded in another’s name: Two land officials jailed
The court of Dhaka gave this verdict in the case of ACC.
The court sentenced two land officials to jail for misusing their power and registering one’s land in the name of another.
The convicts are the former assistant settlement officer of Dhaka Ashraf Ali Howlader and the former surveyor of the settlement office. Monirul Islam.
Dhaka Metropolitan Special Judge Sheikh Hafizur Rahman gave this verdict on Tuesday in the Anti-Corruption Commission case.
ACC lawyer Mir Ahmed Ali Salam said that Ashraf Ali was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment and fined 50 thousand taka. Monirul was sentenced to two years in prison and fined 30 thousand taka.
Monirul was present in the court during the verdict. He was sent to jail on a warrant. The court has issued an arrest warrant against Ashraf Ali as he is absconding.
According to the verdict, Swarna Khan, a resident of Kalabagan, bought a property in Dhaka’s Uttarkhan. On the occasion of not directly tracing the property, Noorannabi Feroze of that area took possession of the property on the basis of an exchange deed dated 1991-1992 and removed the house.
When Swarna Khan appealed against that possession, it was recorded in her name. When Noorannabi Feroze appealed against the record, Appellate Officer Ashraf Ali gave the record judgment in favor of Noorannabi Feroze in 2002.
When Swarna Khan appealed against this verdict, Assistant Settlement Officer Swapan Kumar Vaidya examined the documents of both parties and recommended correction of records in favor of Swarna Khan.
As a result of his recommendation, the corruption of Ashraf Ali and Monirul came to light
