150 files of the record room were found in Rajuk’s employees’ room
Senior Reporter / The Legal Voice 24 Media :
As many as 150 documents were recovered from the offices of the officials and employees of the Capital Development Authority (RAJUK). The documents are of various plots of the new city project of the organization. The documents were recovered in an operation led by Rajuk member (Estate) Mohammad Nurul Islam on Thursday.
As per rules these plot documents were supposed to be in the ‘record room’ of the organization. But instead of keeping the documents there, the documents were kept with the officials. However, no immediate action was taken against anyone in this regard.
There are allegations of various types of fraud and harassment of plot owners against some dishonest officers and employees of Rajuk regarding plot documents. There are also allegations of misappropriation of money by plot owners citing not finding the plot documents on time. Apart from this, there are allegations of creating fake documents by withholding the original documents against some officers and employees of Rajuk. In such a situation, if the plot documents are in the right place and if they can be found as needed, the plot owners feel that the harassment of the plot owners will be reduced.
A plot owner, who was harassed for the document, said on condition of anonymity that he had recently gone for the lease deed of a plot allotted in his name. But he was harassed as the documents could not be found. He said the document was found after the bribe was paid. However, he refused to comment on who had to pay how much.
Earlier on October 15, 2019, in another operation led by the then chairman of Rajuk, Sultan Ahmed, 70 plot documents were recovered from a room of the organization’s annex building. Later, a case was filed in the Anti-Corruption Commission against a total of nine people, including six officers and employees of Rajuk.
In that case, it was alleged that the documents were strategically kept aside without registering the movement of documents as per the rules and sending them to the record room at the end of the work. Apart from this, attempts were made to embezzle government property by illegally creating seals of various officials, illegally creating fake documents and executing lease deeds.
When asked about the raid, Mohammad Nurul Islam said that the raid was conducted in Rajuk’s Annex building. At that time, Rajuk Executive Magistrate and senior officials were present. As many as 150 plot (preventive project) documents have been recovered during the raid. Besides, within the next three working days, the documents of all the plots of Purbachal have been asked to be kept in the record room. After three working days, the updated information will be collected again.
